Natural horsemanship

Groundwork is a great way to add variety to your horse’s training. It focuses on improving communication and cooperation between you and your horse without riding. There are many ways to practice groundwork, with the most common being lunging with a single or double lunge line. Working in-hand and long reining are also popular groundwork techniques.

QHP groundwork equipment

Popular equipment for groundwork includes the cavesson, rope halter, lead rope, and training stick. With these tools, you can practice a wide range of groundwork exercises. If you want to reward your horse with treats, a treat bag is ideal for storing them.

Bareback pad

If you plan to practice groundwork from your horse’s back, a bareback pad can be very useful. It allows you to feel your horse’s movements more closely than a saddle would. A bareback pad is also helpful if you prefer riding without a saddle but find your horse’s bare back uncomfortable.

Bitless riding

For bitless riding, QHP offers a variety of bitless bridles, including sidepull, cross-under, jaw-cross, and sidepull bridles. Each type of bridle differs in pressure distribution and effect. If you want to go a step further and ride without a bridle, a neck rope might be the perfect choice for you and your horse.
